I live in Indiana. I bought my residence in February 2009. I got a tax bill right now, and in Indiana property tax is paid in arrears, so 2008 taxes are paid in the year 2009. So, my name is on the paperwork and almost everything, and I’m questioning just exactly how I have turn into responsible for 2008 taxes if I didn’t own the residence. The bill states they are charging my lender. It also says Informational Purposes Only. One last factor, it states Owner of Record as of March 1, 2008 was Federal National Mortgage Assoc. Thanks.

Go back and pull out Your closing documents. You need to see a l9ne exactly where the seller paid up the accrued taxes through the date of sale assuming I read your explanation properly

The home is responsible for the taxes not the owner. Regular process in most all sales is that the seller will pay the taxes up to date so that really should have been accomplished in your acquire escrow. Appear at your closing statement to see if it was completed. If instructions known as for it and the escrow organization screwed up, you should have title insurance that will pay it for you.
